I strongly believe that participating in this program helped a student of mine report that she was being sexually abused by a member of her family. I have taught over 20 years and this is one of the best programs for my students.

Circles Stop Abuse

Your students are prime targets for abusive behavior. Teach them how to recognize and avoid threatening or potentially abusive situations with Circles: Stop Abusive Behavior. This video program illustrates step-by-step lessons and strategies to recognize abusive behavior. Real-life demonstrations of how to take positive action if feeling exploited are included. This quality program uses the famous Circles paradigm and was created by education and health care professionals sensitive to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.

The program includes 12 stories, each told by a student. In each story, another person exhibits behavior, which the student feels is exploitative. A calm “stop” is shown as the first attempt to curtail the exploitative behavior, and if that is not effective, the student illustrates a “loud stop.” Based upon the specific criteria given, the student then shows how he or she decides whether or not to tell a safe person about the abusive behavior.

My students were glued to the screen. Love Stanfield’s humor. This is the way to teach social skills.

Using Humor to Teach Social Skills

Humor = Retention

We believe you learn best when you laugh. By making the classroom experience more comfortable and enjoyable, humor can make teaching and learning more effective, especially for the K12 segment. At Stanfield, we use humor as an integral part of our curricula.

If you as a speaker don’t help your audience to remember your lessons, then you’re wasting everyone’s time. Humor… can help accomplish that needed retention…
