Awarded Bureau of Health & Education Doctorial Fellowship in Mental Retardation (USC). Dissertation, “What Happens to the Retarded Child When He Grows Up?” selected as lead paper by The Journal of Exceptional Children and popularized in Psychology Today.

Awarded Federal Research Grants to develop “best practice” instructional models to teach students with moderate intellectual and developmental disabilities. Research findings currently practiced in schools throughout USA. Professor Of Special Education, Graduate Division, CSULA, before joining the private sector. In other words, unlike most publishers of materials for Special Education, James Stanfield has been there. He knows the curriculum for students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, knows how they learn best, and knows what support materials teachers need to teach them.

After 12 years of classroom teaching, Dr. Stanfield left academia founded the James Stanfield Publishing Company to produce and distribute VideoModeling based instructional programs for special needs students; to teach as he teaches best, through visual media.

In the last 30 years the company has produced numerous Researched based DVD programs for K-12 Special & At-Risk students.
